I found this amazing studio while pregnant and looking for a prenatal class where there was little chance of injury and to improve my labor. This prenatal class here is amazing! Highly recommend! Then I took some private classes postnatal starting 6 weeks postpartum with the studio owner Janine who is very knowledgeable with all things Pilates, and she helped me focus on areas that needed the most attention. Now I am over a year postpartum and attending all of the regular classes when I can. I love the different equipment options and the strong focus on full body work and slow movements rather than fast pace with potential injury from poor posture or technique. If you want a true Pilates experience with an awesome staff, try Kiva! Just be sure you get the class BEFORE class starts because they will lock the door right on time with no exceptions.

This studio is THE inspiration for finding my joy in movement. I would like to share my latest discovery after being an active member at this studio for over a year: I have decided to step up in Pilates art of movement and sign up for private sessions instead of going only to group classes. Like most of us, I had the desire to improve my body and certain areas that had been bothering me for a while, and I needed guidance on how to personalize certain movements according to my body to improve my posture and reduce the chance of injury. It is the most technical Pilates studio in all of Dallas: the instructor’s knowledge is heads and shoulders above anyone else’s and all my concerns were addressed and solved with ease. Yes, it is an investment, but towards your health and a better understanding of your own body alignment. The knowledge I gained during the private sessions is with me during group classes and I could not be happier with the results. I am forever grateful and am always anticipating my next class.

I’ve been taking private sessions and classes at Kiva for several years now and can’t say enough good things about it. I was new to Pilates and tried different studios in the beginning. Everything about Kiva just clicked. The instructors are top notch. They take a personal interest and have helped me work through different injuries successfully. Kiva Pilates is Pilates done correctly. The owner, Janine Ferris, is a stellar teacher and leader for her team. Classes are about form and getting the best workout possible for each particular body. I feel healthy and strong every time I leave the studio. Private classes with Janine are well taught with meticulous, energetic attention to detail. She leads a team of teachers with the same dedication and determination that she has. The space is beautiful with trees all around and perfectly clean. I won't take Pilates anywhere else in Dallas. Kiva is perfect.

I had never taken a pilates class prior to my experience at KIVA. I was nervous that I would be inexperienced or unable to keep up, but from the first moment I stepped in the studio, the instructors were so friendly and made me feel very welcome. During my first three classes, they made sure to explain the various techniques to me and gave me individualized attention so that I had the opportunity to improve. I have since purchased a membership and am in love with pilates and KIVA. I drive 45 minutes to go to this studio and won't go anywhere else. I also think the management is exceptional. Janine always says hello when you walk in the door and has made KIVA a wonderful place to learn and study pilates. If your new to pilates, I recomend you give KIVA a try!

Frequently Asked Questions

We recommend three times a week if this is your only form of exercise and your goals are large and have a specific time frame (like a wedding coming up). To continue to gain progress we recommend two times per week. Once a week will help you to maintain current alignment and flexibility if you are doing other physical activity. We can help you create a schedule you can commit too. For example: one private a week and two group classes.

Your first session will include a 5-10 minute introduction to the studio and goal setting with your instructor followed by 45 minutes of movement.  Private lessons are scheduled for 50 minutes. Group Equipment and Mat Classes are 45 minutes.

Please wear formfitting attire you would typically wear to a gym or yoga class. For Men- long shorts and a t-shirt are perfect. For Women- Capri length pants are preferred and a form fitting t-shirt or tank top. You can work out with socks or bare feet. Please avoid attire with zippers as it tears our equipment. It is best to leave jewelry off as well.

Pilates is for every body. At our studio we have over 10 men who regularly attend Pilates. We have clients ranging in age from their 20’s up to their late 70’s. The greatest benefit of one on one Pilates is we look at YOU and YOUR NEEDS. We don’t just give the same thing and same corrections to everyone. We help all our clients do their best. The most often heard phrase in our studio after a client workout is “WOW! I feel so much better! Thank you!”

Joseph Pilates had a famous quote “In 10 sessions you will feel the difference, in 20 sessions you will see a difference, and in 30 sessions you will feel like you have a completely new body.”

This is based on clients who attend 3 times per week and are able to focus and concentrate on the exercises. We also recommend taking measurements. Inches will decrease before you see a difference on the scale.

As long a doctor has cleared you to exercise, don’t worry.

Our instructors are trained for over 600 hours minimum. We communicate with you to make sure you are not in pain. We can work around any injury until you are ready to strengthen it again.

We recommend everyone start with 3 private sessions so we can meet you where you are in your fitness level. You aren’t being compared to anyone.

Moving slower with intention helps you really feel your muscles more deeply and gives amazing results.

Group Class: You may cancel anytime before 12 hours from the start of your session with no lost class credit. Cancellation within a 12 hour window from class time forfeits that class from your package/membership

Private Sessions: A cancellation of a Private Session within 24 hours of your appointment will forfeit a session from your package.

As a studio we hold ourselves to the same integrity.  If the instructor you are scheduled with is ill, has an emergency or is otherwise unable to fulfill the appointment and another studio instructor is not available – YOU will receive a FREE session.

GROUP CLASSES: To maintain building security the main building door locks at class time. Please give ample time to arrive.

The instructor is ready and waiting for you. The session will start upon your arrival and complete at regularly schedule time.

There is ample parking at our location. Ground level. Please lock your doors as we are next door to a very busy Katy Trail!

For a Semi Privat Session – ABSOLUTELY!! Just give your instructor a heads up.

For Group Classes:  We only accept walk ins if there is space available within the class. Please contact us ahead of time if possible.
